On October 2021, I had the pleasure of interviewing Jari Roomer, an entrepreneur, a writer and a productivity expert.

We talked about how to achieve our goals as fast as we can without loosing time getting distracted. Fortunately, he shared with me her powerful secret on hacking the Flow State to be focused while developing our tasks. In this interview, he will help you identify why you get distracted, how to avoid it and how to get the most out of the Flow State.

What’s the Flow State?

How you can use the Flow State as the optimate performance zone to get more done and to increase your productivity. It basically is when you are super focused and immersed in doing one task.

1) WHAT IS THE FLOW STATE?

Flow state is the zone of peak performance to get more done. It’s when you are super focus. When you are immerged into one task

On average about 5% of our work week is spent on the flow state. 95% of the time are not as performant and it’s due to distractions. 

Flow state is where we are producing our best work. 

You can get more done in 2 or 3 hours of flow than what most people get done in 2 or 3 days of work

Knowledge work is not made to work all day.

2) WHAT DO YOU NEED TO HACK THE FLOW STATE?

60-90 minutes session of flow state is enough – 2,5 hours is too long. Then doing a 20-minutes break and I don’t touch my social media. I do things that are off line. Then I go back to 60-90 minutes session.

How to get into the zone? water, playlist, headphones and I’m picking up one task. I use the flow state for the high priority task, remove all distractions.

What’s your advice to get more done?

“Every single day identify 3 high priority items you want to get more and make them your mission for the day”.
